I would say a new slogan is in order.
TISDALE, Saskatchewan — Is it time for a change in one small Canadian town?
For at least the last 60 years the town of Tisdale has called itself “The Land of Rape and Honey” and now town leaders are asking whether that slogan should remain.
The phrase, seen on the welcome sign on the outskirts of town, actually refers to rapeseed and honey according to the Star Phoenix newspaper, both of which have traditionally been produced in massive quantities in the area.
To some, however, the word ‘rape’ is more associated with sexual assault.
That’s where the new survey to residents from town officials comes into the conversation.
