YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio (WKBN) – Youngstown State University kicked off the Relay for Life season on Friday.
The annual event is put on by the American Cancer Society. Every year, in cities across the country, people come together to raise awareness and money to fight cancer by walking, donating money and spreading the word about the disease.
The YSU Relay for Life event kicked off at 6 p.m. Friday at Beeghly Center. A survivor dinner was held at 7 p.m. Friday and the luminary ceremony to honor those who have died was held at 9 p.m., followed by a silent lap around the track.
Activities will be held throughout the night and the event will wrap up at 10 a.m. Saturday.
